Dementia Test

This test predicts your risk of dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

In this test, you take a saliva sample with the swab in your kit. You send your sample back to the lab via the return envelope in your kit, free of charge.

There, they will test whether you are a carrier of the E4 variant of the APO E gene. Someone who is a carrier of this variant is 2 to 15 times more likely to develop dementia or Alzheimer's disease (depending on the result). Carrier status of the E4 variant is found in about 20-25 per cent of the general population.

If you are a carrier of the APO E4 gene - and thus have an increased risk of dementia or Alzheimer's disease - there is a possibility of counteracting this risk with the right treatment. So if you are a carrier of the APO E4 gene, a doctor will discuss the possible next steps via a phone call or a follow-up consultation with our doctor.
